Evaluation of energy fluxes in the NCEP climate forecast system version 2.0 (CFSv2)
This study focuses on the annual mean energy fluxes and tries to link it with the systematic cold biases in the 2 m air temperature, particularly over the land regions. The model overestimates surface albedo over mid and high latitudes of the Asian and European continents, eastern part of North America by about 20-30%. The largest albedo biases tend to occur over the snow covered region, highlighting the role of snow processes and representation of snow-albedo in the model.
