INDO-US Workshop on Downscaling during 7-9 March 2017

As part of the INDO-US Partnership for Climate Resilience, the Indian Institute for Tropical Meteorology (IITM) , Pune , U.S. Department of State, and others from the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information are working in a series of workshops and collaborations to advance capacity for climate adaptation planning in India.  The first in a series of workshops is focused on techniques for downscaling climate information and opportunities for sharing available downscaled information to local planners in India. This “Workshop on Development and Applications of Downscaling Climate Projections”  scheduled on March 7-9, 2017 is organized by Center for Climate Change Research,  at the Indian Institute for Tropical Meteorology, Pune, India.

The workshop will focus on sharing expertise in climate modeling and downscaling between Indian and US experts ;  present downscaled international climate model data for the Indian sub-continent, including NASA Earth Exchange Global Daily Downscaled Projections (NEX-GDDP) and IITM Coordinated Regional Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) program for South Asia ; engage and share experience in the applications of downscaled climate information to inform decision making, including discussions on the State Action Plan Development and identify collaborative research opportunities for developing additional high-resolution climate datasets for the Indian Sub-continent and approaches for their use in climate adaptation planning.

The participation in the workshop is “by invitation” only. For details contact Dr Ashwini Kulkarni  at the address ashwini@tropmet.res.in / indous-workshop@tropmet.res.in
