IITM celebrated its 63^rd Foundation Day on November 17, 2024.

Prof. Berrien Moore, Dean, College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences, Director, National Weather Center, The University of Oklahoma, Norman, USA, was the Chief Guest of the foundation day function.

Prof. S. Ananthakrishnan, INSA Senior Scientist and Adjunct Professor, SPPU, Pune, Former Director, GMRT, Pune, was the Guest of Honor.

Dr. R. Krishnan, Director, IITM, extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees.

Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary, MoES delivered the event's opening address. This was preceded by a tribute to Dr. A.K. Kamra's contributions in Atmospheric Electricity, presented by Prof. Pradeep Kumar, SPPU. Dr. J. Sanjay, Senior Scientist, IITM, provided a comprehensive overview of the institute’s activities.

Prof. Berrien Moore delivered the IITM Foundation Day Lecture on “The GeoCarb Mission: Understanding the Carbon-Climate System”.

Prof. S. Ananthakrishnan delivered the IITM Foundation Day Lecture on “Exploraon of the Earth-Moon space and beyond through a new low frequency window”.

Dr Roxy M Koll has been felicitated for receiving Vigyan Yuva Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award for 2024 in the Earth Science for significant contributions to the Field of Ocean atmosphere dynamics & interaction.
