PAIR Lab inauguration at IITM

The Plant-Atmosphere Interaction Research (PAIR) Laboratory was inaugurated on March 4, 2025, by Dr. R. Krishnan, Director, IITM, and Dr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, National Organizing Secretary, Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA). Led by Dr. Chaitri Roy, Dr. Arkabanee Mukherjee, and Ms. Bhagyashri Katre from IITM, Pune, the lab is dedicated to studying the impacts of air pollution and climate change on plant health and crop yield.

The laboratory is equipped with a Portable Photosynthesis System, an advanced instrument designed to measure Photosynthetic Gas Exchange and Chlorophyll A Fluorescence in plants simultaneously. This system plays a crucial role in assessing plant health and productivity by providing key measurements such as CO2 and H2O concentrations, Stomatal Conductance, Carbon Assimilation, Intercellular CO2, Quantum Efficiency of Photo System II (PSII), and many other physiological parameters.
