Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) has proudly participated in the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2024 Campaign, a nationwide movement to promote this year's theme of Swabhav Swachhata -Sanskaar Swachhata. To mark the beginning of this initiative, banners were unveiled at the main gate of the Institute so as to make aware of this national campaign to general public and flyer is uploaded on Institute portal. As part of this initiative, IITM has undertaken various activities to contribute to the nation's cleanliness mission.

Key Initiatives:

1. Swachhta Ki Bhagidari:- Taking roots for greener tomorrow Plantation drive was carried out by IITM in nearby Hill Side Area followed by the cleaning activity. Local people were also participated in this event. Beautification work at Institute premises was carried out with the help of in-house horticulture personnel. Under Waste to Best activity a water jars carrying trolley has been prepared by IITM technicians from unused wooden scrap materials.

2.Sampoorna Swachhta:-To enhance cleanliness and hygiene standards within the Institute premises as well as across the local bodies this year also IITM carried out mass scale drives and identified four CTUs which consists of Cleanliness Drive at Water bodies, Religious Temple, Educational Institute and drainage cleaning activity at Institute premises. Cleanliness drive, Swachhata Pledge, drawing competitions under SBM, Swachhta Run, sapling distribution etc. activities were carried out under these events. Students of nearby Municipal Corporation school enthusiastically participated in SHS campaign and showcased their passion for cleanliness through an inspiring poetry reading highlighting the importance of sanitation. 

3.Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir:- To honour the real heroes who dedicated their lives towards maintaining the cleanliness surrounding areas everyday IITM has organized Health camp for all these workers of the Institute and their family members followed by felicitation program of in house workers along with PMC-Sutarwadi ward workers .

IITM reaffirm our commitment to contributing to the Swachhata Hi Seva mission and making India a cleaner, greener, and healthier nation.
